San Francisco

I got home last night from an amazing trip to San Francisco, Napa, and Sonoma.  I loved every moment of it.  Though it rained for the majority of the time we were away it was still a fantastic vacation.  San Francisco is such a gorgeous city - so perfect for walking around.  We saw a lot and I took a lot of pictures.  I will do my best to cut them down but the vacation photos will take awhile to get posted.  Please be sure to scroll down since all the posts will be quite photo heavy.  I hope you enjoy the photos and please be sure to ask me any questions in the comments section - I'm always happy to share my travel experiences :)

Love this hotel.  You can't tell in the photo but the man standing by the door was quite dapper - very fitting for the architecture of the building.

Great statue and idyllic garden.

Fisherman's Wharf

This photo was taken inside the Grand Café restaurant near Union Square.  I loved these lamps and the interior of the restaurant.  The food was ridiculously good too.  I had the Raviole aux Légumes which was phenomenal.  Check out their dinner menu here and check it out if you are ever in San Francisco.
The infamous Lombard St

Another shot of Lombard... in the rain

Another amazing meal... Though line ups are common at Mama's there is a reason for that.  The breakfast/brunch is delicious.  Since we were there on a miserably rainy day we didn't have to wait in line very long.  I had the tastiest french toast taster plate with banana bread french toast (aka banana bread turned into french toast - how did I never think of doing this before?!?!), orange cranberry french toast, and cinnamon french toast.  If you head to Mama's be sure to put their jam on everything (unless of course you order eggs benny of something of the like).  I noticed that a lot of the regulars seemed to be ordering 3 breakfasts to share amongst 2 people.  Though I personally think that would be far too much food, sharing is a fantastic idea if you only get to go to Mama's once - get one savory breakfast and one sweet breakfast and share... yum!  Check out the Mama's website here.  Thanks @DuchessBridge for the recommendation!

 Street cars by night

Another night scene...

Golden Gate Bridge... sigh

I will be posting Alcatraz, Muir Woods, Napa, and Sonoma pictures over the next little while so please stay tuned!

When in Rome...

make sure to see all the sights.  As you may recall from a previous post of mine, I adore all things Italy.  Here are some photos of some of my favourite sights from around the city.

The Pantheon

The Spanish Steps

Fontana di Trevi

Seriously, what a beautiful city... I miss it so much!

Gladiators and Classic Architecture

In all my travels there is no country that has resonated as much for me as Italy.  The people, the scenery, the food, it is all amazing.  What I love most is that you are always stumbling upon amazing buildings.  You can be walking down the street amongst modern skyscrapers and then turn a corner to find a gorgeous ancient monument.  Needless to say, the Colosseum is on most people's list of must sees when they visit Rome.  I took this photo one night not realizing that one of the "gladiators" just happened to be walking across the street at the same time.  I love that he became slightly blurred but that you can still make out his gladiator sandals and his costume.
